Bob Wallace Still Entertains While He Informs

("Community Corner" segment at April 2001 PCC Monthly Luncheon)

After 22 years with WBBM-TV Channel 2 and "Two on Two," the introductory luncheon speaker of the day, Bob Wallace finds television a very different world today from when he began doing his feature stories.

Nine years ago he founded BW Productions, making commercials and working with the mayor's press office and cable 23 for the city, hosting informational video productions about city departments and special events, as well as still freelancing -- including for WBBM-TV. His shows are newsy in the styles of "Sixty Minutes" and "Two on Two." He left WBBM-TV to do different things.

Making newsy "documercials" for a variety of corporate clients, he feels that "Part of my job is to save clients from themselves," said Wallace. "I've learned a lot about diplomacy since my reputation as a bull in the china shop. My shows are believable and newsy and I get my point across."

The Boston University graduate and native of the East coast now has his own website: www.bobwallace.com.
