AWARD CATEGORIES

THE GOLDEN TRUMPET

Outstanding achievement in public relations.

THE SILVER TRUMPET

THE PLATINUM AWARD

Recognizes the best overall public relations program. Judges will consider overall use of public relations practices and the value of the program. The Platinum Award will be announced at the Awards Banquet.

Foremost contribution of the year to improve the quality of life in our society through public relations. Established in 1977 in honor of the late Edwin J. Shaughnessy, PCC officer and member.

CREATIVITYAWARD

Recognizes and encourages special creativity in public relations programs. Established in 1986 in honor of the late Elynore Dolkart Meserow, former PCC president, for her consistent support of creativity in entries during many years as chairman of the Golden Trumpet Awards judging subcommittee.

JUDGING

Each category will be judged by a panel of expert communications professionals - veterans in their fields. Many are members of the Publicity Club of Chicago and related organizations including the Public Relations Society of America and the International Association of Business Communicators. Judges follow strict procedures to prevent conflicts of interest. Each entry will be judged and scored by three separate judges. Key facts about the judging process:

  • Judging is based on objectives, techniques, creativity, cost-effectiveness and results.

  • Entries are not judged against each other - judging is based on standards of excellence.

  • There may be more than one gold and one silver awarded in each category.

Winners will be notified by Monday, March 18, 2002 on a confidential basis.
