We are seeking an Executive Vice President, Brand Strategy and Newsroom Editor who has both experience running a publishing or creative production team from the operational side and the strategic communications experience of creating brand-level strategies that become integrated campaigns. This person must have a strong understanding of consumer touchpoint mapping, creating clear narratives across multiple touchpoints and channels; understanding how tone and voice fits in, ensuring we are meeting brand/business objectives.

This role will serve as the newsroom/publishing engine lead strategist and will work with a fully integrated team, driving innovation and leveraging our strategic platform of knowledge, insights and ideas. This role will be recognized as an expert in the integrated marketing, brand strategy, and consumer/retail space and will manage diverse internal teams and deliver outstanding results. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Newsroom/Publishing Engine/Creative Production team lead strategist
  • Serve as the PR/communications point and strategic lead as part of integrated WPP client team
  • Manage and inspire the BCW communications team to deliver innovative and groundbreaking work
  • Elevate consistency and quality of earned media and social/influencer tactics
  • Better track, measure and merchandise results
  • Be a seamless and collaborative partner with WPP team members from advertising, data, social, media, creative
  • Garner the respect and trust of client’s marketing colleagues to help validate and elevate the role of communications

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and develop Chicago-based BCW staff
  • Serve as thought leader for the office to push modern marketing tactics
  • Help establish and cultivate a consumer marketing culture

Requirements

  • Experience running a newsroom/content hub/publishing or creative production team from the operational side
  • Significant experience in integrated marketing and brand strategy
  • Understanding of consumer touchpoint mapping, creating clear narratives across multiple touchpoints and channels
  • Understanding of how tone and voice fits in, ensuring we are meeting brand/business objectives
  • Experience working with fully integrated team
  • Agency experience ideal
  • CPG/retail experience a must; healthcare or consumer healthcare experience ideal
  • Client relationship and team management
  • Vocal, challenging, collaborative, commanding, strong presenter
  • Journalistic, earned first mindset with experience in highly integrated teams (that have traditionally been ad led)
  • Experience with “iconic” brands important
