Elizabeth Frances Calabrese Scholarships Available to Outstanding Columbia Students
To honor outstanding Columbia students with demonstrated financial need in the PR/communication field, the Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC) will present two $5,000 scholarship awards this December. The two awards are named in honor of Elizabeth Frances Calabrese, beloved mother of Immediate Past PCC President Dominic Calabrese. While unable to attend college herself, Mrs. Calabrese's three sons were all teachers. She had a very kind heart and supported many worthwhile causes. Her eulogy delivered by her son Dominic can be read here.
To receive consideration for the Elizabeth Frances Calabrese Scholarships, students should be pursuing a career in public relations or communications; maintain at least a B average, be actively involved in PR related activities on campus; and demonstrate financial need. The awards can be applied to the Spring, 2020 semester.
To apply, students must complete an application form and four essay questions to qualify for a scholarship. Additionally, they will submit their resumes, a letter of recommendation and their FAFSA Student Aid Report.
All material must be submitted to PCC Administrator Tweed Thornton at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Monday, November 4. The applications will be reviewed by Professor Anne Marie Mitchell of Columbia's Communication Department as well as past PCC presidents. Recipients will be notified by Monday, November 26. They will be honored at PCC's December 11th luncheon.
