Speaker Bios

Tracy Baim is publisher of the Chicago Reader. She has been inducted into the National LGBT Journalists Association Hall of Fame, Association of Women Journalists-Chicago Hall of Fame, and the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Journalists-Chicago.

Baim, a working journalist in Chicago since 1984, is also owner and co-founder of Windy City Times, a 34-year-old LGBTQ newspaper.

She is the author or co-author of 12 books on LGBTQ history (including Out and Proud in Chicago, Obama and the Gays, Gay Press, Gay Power, and also biographies of Barbara Gittings, Vernita Gray, Chuck Renslow, and Jim Flint), producer of four films, creator of the That’s So Gay! LGBTQ trivia game, and a longtime journalist and organizer.

Major events she has helped lead include Gay Games VII in Chicago in 2006 and the March on Springfield for Marriage Equality in 2013. She founded the LGBT Chamber of Commerce in 1996, and has won numerous awards for her journalism and activism, including the Studs Terkel Award and Peter Lisagor Awards.

Danyele Davis is a Vice President with Flowers Communications Group. She currently manages the account services for the MillerCoors, Brown-Forman and Chicago Park District accounts. Her work includes the development and ongoing management of the award-winning signature initiative MillerCoors Tap the Future; multicultural advertising; and stakeholder relationships, in particular with multicultural nonprofit organizations. Danyele has more than 15 years of experience in promotions, brand marketing and public relations expertise and has won 12 industry awards, including the Publicity Club of Chicago Platinum Award for her work on the Get Fit with Walgreens program.

Bioncé Foxx is a household name when it comes to radio, beginning her career in Chicago 20 years ago, and currently hosting the “Bioncé Foxx Experience” on V103 (WVAZ-FM). But when Bioncé is not on the air, she serves the community as a volunteer for various non-profit organizations. She also mentors young boys and girls, teaching them the importance of self-respect and she also teaches academics in different areas of communications. The daughter of an Air Force veteran, Bioncé has traveled the world extensively and enjoys the fine arts.

Eva Prokop served as CEO and Executive Director of the Polish American Association, the oldest social service agency founded in 1922 and serving nearly 10,000 unique clients annually across nearly 30 programs. She subsequently joined the PAA's Board of Directors to continue her service and most recently has consulted with the Board on developing its new 5-year Strategic Plan. 

In preparing that march into PAA's second century of service, she collected and aggregated data and trends from across many stakeholders in the domestic Polish community as well as broader trends and new developments from the migration of Poles both to the US and within the EU. Eva currently serves as COO of GetSet Learning, an education technology platform helping schools support student graduation and is a graduate of Loyola University.

Anayeli Ruiz joined NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago in October of 2017. Ruiz came to Chicago by way of Corpus Christi, Texas where she worked for the local NBC and Telemundo affiliate for 3 years. She has reported and anchored the news in both English and Spanish. 

While in Corpus Christi, she was part of a team that launched the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscast for the Telemundo station where she covered the landfall of the Hurricane Harvey in South Texas area. Ruiz also worked for the ABC station and Mundo Fox in Corpus Christi, the NBC/ Telemundo station in Midland/Odessa, and Azteca America in Houston.

Ruiz was born in Mexico City but was raised in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Spanish.
